How to Apply a Screen Protector

How to Apply a Screen Protector

Smartphones might not be as susceptible to damage as they were a couple of years back, but they can still get damaged. The most vulnerable part of a smartphone is definitely its touchscreen. You could drop your handset by accident or your keys could scratch it up while it’s in your bag, and then there’s no going back. That hairline scratch will stay there for good. Now, some people might not be bothered by this, but if you don’t belong to that group, you could think about getting a screen protector.

How to apply a screen protector

Protect your phone’s screen with a screen protector!

Screen protectors are applied directly to your phone’s screen and they prevent those pesky scratches from ending up on your device. One of the questions we get quite a lot is: how do I apply a screen protector properly and without creating bubbles underneath it? It’s not really all that difficult, you just need to do it slowly and carefully. Today we’ll show you how. 🙂

1. Clean your hands and then your phone’s screen. It’s of utmost importance for there not to be any dust particles or dirt on the screen, because they are the ones that create bubbles. To clean your screen, use a microfiber cloth and an LCD cleaner. Avoid actually touching the screen.

2. Get your screen protector and peel off the backing first.

Remove the backing first and then start applying the protector.

3. Arrange the screen protector. It’s easier to do this by placing your smartphone on a flat surface. Hold the protector along the edges and start either at the bottom or at the top of your device. We recommend starting with the end that will require the most precise alignment (e.g.  start with the home button on the iPhone).
4. Next, use the squeegee you received in the package (or if you didn’t, you can use a credit card) to apply the screen protector. If there are any bubbles, push them out with the squeegee, starting from the bottom and gradually moving upwards.

5. Once the screen protector is covering your screen completely, you can remove the front protective layer.

If there are still bubbles left after you’re done, it means that your screen’s already been scratched or that there’s some dust stuck to the protector. In this case, lift the protector with a piece of clear tape, remove the dust and then reapply the protector.
